Hard to argue with Murtha as a patriot although I think he's misguided as a legislator. The Iraqi government jury is still out deliberating. I imagine the verdict will be a somewhat split decision. Going from Sadaam's Iraq to a functional democracy will be a little harder than a Brit. learning to drive on the right side of the road. |

Even relaying someone else's reference to cowardice was in poor taste. However, telling the enemy that you will withdraw by a given date is the equivalent to posting that the alarm on the bank vault will be switched off from 2 AM to 3 AM for maintenance.The fact is that no wartime president has ever enjoyed any significant popularity. It goes with the territory. Saying what is popular (ala Murtha) may get you carried on the shoulders of the masses but it does little to protect us from the realities of the world. |
