Yes, I have been to bars in 7th Ave too, and in my opinion, it's mostly white people walking around drunk from them. I haven't gone to a bar there in about 10 years, but back then that was definitely the case. There was a whole line of them on 7th and 5th Ave. |

Yes, I know that I always criticize Bensonhurst, Staten Island, and Howard Beach, but I'll take neighborhoods like those where the residents tell you straight up that you're not welcome over phony ass neighborhoods like Park Slope where they'll scheme/panic behind your back. I also now understand why a lot of black people considering it "selling out" when you leave your life in a black neighborhood to live in an upper class neighborhood although I still don't necessarily agree with it. |

And fuck that shit with political correctness. Let's be honest with ourselves. The hip hop community has a terrible rep and it's well-deserved. Actually, I know a Black Lesbian couple pretty well, and you are absolutely correct. Both of them are lovely people, but the one is a VERY hot Black woman, very feminine (although a little on the heavy side, but her body structure carries it well), and the other is a much skinnier Black woman, but not partiuclarly attractive as she looks very masculine (Butch you can say). And the funny thing is that she also wears "guy" clothes. The feminine one wears very dainty and feminine clothes. But it's funny, I know a few gay couples too, and sometimes it's the same thing. One couple I know there is a very "guy" acting one, and the other one acts more feminine. The guy acting one, you would never really know he was gay if you didn't know. His "better half" there is absolutely no way he can hide it.... |

Maybe this part of the article had something to do with that "hoops and hip hop" impression:On the bar’s Facebook page, where the Prime 6 logo is in the shape of a basketball, many of the “friends” are musicians and DJs. The webpage also includes a link to the “Prime 6 mixed CD,” which was created by hip hop artist DJ Big Jeff, who has songs titled, “Motha F–ka, I’m Ill” and “New Money.” The bar’s Myspace page looks a little different; it has 300 friends, most of whom are attractive women, posing suggestively. Smooth Jazz has a large black influence and I doubt that anyone in that area would protest a Jazz club.Because it's an older crowd that would be attracted to that. Also older white people love Jazz too. Ever been to New Orleans? As for Heavy Metal or Rock clubs, how many of them are around anymore? Thats because that music belongs to an older crowd now, and they don't patronze bars like 20 somethings do. 20-Somethings are not into Metal or Rock, and those (of any race) are your main bar patrons. A Heavy Metal or Rock club would attract late 30's, 40's, and 50's people, who aren't like the 20-something bar crowd (of any race). |

Like heavy metal bands don't also encourage raucous behavior & curse in their songs. I'd also like to know what the hell women posing suggestively in bikinis or lingerie also has to do with this? Didn't rock bands put butt naked women on their album covers back in the 60s & 70s? How come it was considered "artful" in those cases, but in Kanye West's case it's scandalous? It's a double standard that seems to be secretly exhilarated by the elitists. |
