"Progressive" Park Slope shows its true colors |

Park Slope residents are planning to storm a Community Board 6 hearing on Monday night to protest a liquor license for Prime 6 NYC, a live music venue and sports bar that is under construction at the corner of Flatbush and Sixth avenues — just one and a half blocks from the future home of the Brooklyn-bound Nets. Their large venue, which will occupy the shuttered Royal Video, is a “two-floor” club with “outdoor seating with a beautiful garden,” according to the Prime 6 NYC Myspace page. But residents believe that the bar will target a hoops and hip-hop crowd that will be raucous before and after games. “It is completely in conflict with an internationally famous, family oriented area,” said Steve Ettlinger, a non-fiction writer who lives nearby. “And everyone who has approached the owner has been rudely rebuffed.” Akiva Ofshtein, who is listed as the lessee in public records, did not return calls, but the bar’s social media websites offer a glimpse at what’s to come. On the bar’s Facebook page, where the Prime 6 logo is in the shape of a basketball, many of the “friends” are musicians and DJs. The webpage also includes a link to the “Prime 6 mixed CD,” which was created by hip hop artist DJ Big Jeff, who has songs titled, “Motha F–ka, I’m Ill” and “New Money.” The bar’s Myspace page looks a little different; it has 300 friends, most of whom are attractive women, posing suggestively. The owner of the building, Lina Feng, would say only, “I’m not at liberty to talk about it. I just collect the rent.” The liquor license application will be discussed by Community Board 6 at the Prospect Park YMCA [357 Ninth St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues in Park Slope, (718) 643-3027] on Feb. 28 at 6:30 pm." Although I'm ashamed of the not-so-subtle racism my "progressive" liberal counterparts project, I'll continue to be a Democrat as long as they continue to at least try to look like they give a shit about the poor. Regardless, they can all go back to Idaho or whatever lame Midwestern shithole they came from. |

All kinds of nightclubs can produce rowdy behavior, including nightclubs already in Park Slope that black people from other neighborhoods go to, so if they really cared about "raucous" behavior caused by drunk rowdy fans then they'd try to close the existing night clubs/bars in the area too, but they don't care about that, and "hoops and hip-hop" comment proved that drunk, rowdy behavior was not their main concern but rather the color of those who are drunk and rowdy.Lots of news stories about violent hip hop crowds, gangs, rowdy behavior, etc. Maybe they should stop learning about black people through the news & meet black people for other reasons than interviewing them for babysitting their children. |

When Carson got a concert venue (The Home Depot Center) the venue let the neighbors (mostly black) provide a list of unacceptable concert acts. It was pretty much a list of every rap group that you ever heard of at the time along with some random rock bands. They had that Lollapalooza thing a couple of times and then cancelled all concerts. |

When it comes down to it, Elitist White Democrats are not particularly tolerant of minorities, they only cater to them (or at least appear to cater to them) because they use them, and exploit them for votes. Most Elitist White Democrats would NEVER live in a mixed neighborhood. |

While Basket ball fans are in all colors, it's usually not whites that like hip hop. But I don't know where the article says that it is supposed to be a "hip hop" bar. It says it's a "sports bar", which would seem fitting for a business that is near a stadium, which attracts people of all races. The White Elitist Democrats of Park Slope are the ones that read "hip hop" into it because the Nets are a Basketball team, and their stereotypes of "who" likes Basketball came to their elitist minds. That's the hypocrisy of Elitist White Democrats, they claim to be so tolerant of other races, but it's all a front to use and exploit Minorities. When it comes down to it, they don't want to "live" with the minorities, only put on the front that they are "accepting". |

I know, I finally realizes it and disgusts me, I can see why you and others here don't choose to associate yourselves with either side of the political spectrum. It goes both ways though, if poor minorities voted Republican then they'd probably lose some of their government assistance & less improvements would be made to parks, schools, police stations, etc in their communities, so voting Democrat is pretty much a necessary evil if you're a poor minority. It's why so many poor minorities don't give a shit about voting & many programs exist to encourage them to. |
