Egyptian Politician: Jews Use Human Blood for Passover Matzos

By Elad Benari
6/17/2013, 6:15 AM
The Muslim world is keeping the centuries old “matzah blood libel” alive and well — even in Egypt, with which Israel has a peace treaty.

The libel that Jews use the blood of non-Jews to make matzah for Passover originated in 1144 with the fabricated story of William of Norwich, England. The Arabs continue to use this libel, and the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has translated and posted a television interview with an Egyptian lawmaker who chose to disseminate this false accusation.

Khaled Al-Zaafrani, founder of the Egyptian Justice and Progress Party, made the comments in the interview which aired on Al-Hafez TV on May 12, 2013.

“It is the Jews who have instigated wars in the world,” Zaafrani said during the interview. “They instigated World War I, as well as World War II, and they will keep on instigating wars. The Jews cannot live without wars, conspiracies, deceit, and deception. We can rest assured that the Jews will not seek or uphold peace.

“It s well known that during the Passover, they make matzos called the ‘Blood of Zion,’” he continued. “They take a Christian child, slit his throat and slaughter him. Then they take his blood and make their [matzos]. This is a very important rite for the Jews, which they never forgo.”

Asked by the interview whether the Jews do this to this day, Zaafrani replied, “Absolutely. The French kings and the Russian czars discovered this in the Jewish quarters. All the massacring of Jews that occurred in those countries were because they discovered that the Jews had kidnapped and slaughtered children, in order to make the Passover matzos.

“Recorded evidence of this is kept in the Egyptian national archives. This happens to this day,” he claimed.

The lawmaker concluded his remarks by claiming, “When this subject is raised, the Jews consider it to be a problem, just like the problem of Hitler and the Holocaust.”

Professor Moshe Sharon of Hebrew University recently told Arutz Sheva that there were still many instances of the false accusations against Jews for allegedly using the blood of non-Jews to make matzah, but that these accusations today are made in the Muslim world, not the Christian world.

He noted that the accusation that Jews use the blood of Christian or Muslim blood is quite common in Islamic literature. Materials printed by Hizbullah, Hamas and other terror groups, along with books sold throughout the Arab world, discuss alleged cases of Jewish use of blood for matzah baking, said Sharon.

Egypt Revolts: Morsi appoints violent extremists as governors

Morsi governor appointments frighten some Egyptians

Sarah Lynch , Special for USA Today
1:18 p.m. EDT June 19, 2013

Morsi appointed a member of a United States-designated terrorist group as governor

CAIRO — Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi appointed a member of a United States-designated terrorist group as governor of a major tourist city this week, propelling more unrest in the deeply troubled and divided country.

The appointment risks further damage to tourism in Luxor, home to popular ancient sites including the prized Valley of the Kings, as some in the area have risen up in protest over new governor Adel Asaad Al-Khayat.

Al-Khayat comes from the political wing of Gamaa Islamiya, which carried out a horrifying attack on a morning in November 1997 at Luxor's Temple of Hatshepsut, killing more than 60 people, many of them tourists.

The attack, one of many vicious assaults the group carried out in the 1990s, devastated the tourism industry for months afterward.

"The person appointed as governor to Luxor is very controversial," said Egyptian political expert Khalil Al-Anani, who is currently in Cairo.

"How can you appoint someone with this bloody history in a very important and strategic governorate like Luxor, which is one of the main (tourist) destinations in Egypt?" he said. "This can worsen the tourism industry."

On Wednesday, Egypt's Tourism Minister Hesham Zazou resigned in protest over the Luxor appointment.

The uprising that ousted dictator Hosni Mubarak in 2011 prompted many radical groups that had previously rejected political involvement to reconsider their position. Gamaa Islamiya renounced violence in 2003 and created the Building and Development Party, which won 13 out of 498 elected seats in the new parliament. The parliament was dissolved by court order.

Analysts said they expected Morsi, who rose from the Brotherhood, to appoint a number of Brotherhood figures as a continuation of its policy to expand its control over the country. But the reaction nationwide underscores the problems of a system where local officials are not elected but appointed, a system under Mubarak that Morsi has retained.

"This is the exact pattern of appointments to these positions that used to be adopted by Mubarak," said Khaled Fahmy, professor and chair of the history department at the American University in Cairo.

"What the government is doing is changing faces rather than changing policies," he said. "We had this revolution to have new rules of the game, not new players."

Protests began on Monday in Luxor outside the new governor's office and continued Tuesday and Wednesday. Demonstrations also erupted elsewhere in the country over Morsi's other recent appointments — 17 in total. Seven of Egypt's new regional governors are from the Muslim Brotherhood, which means 11 out of 27 governors total across the country are now from the once-banned movement. Six new governors are from the military and police.

Gamaa Islamiya members follow a rigid interpretation of Islam whose origins are rooted in 7th century Islam as practiced by the Muslim Prophet Mohammed. They reject contemporary clothing for women and alcohol, which some Western tourists see as vacation staples. Other hardliners have no respect for ancient sites that were built for ancient gods under the Egyptian pharaohs, saying they are heretical to the tenets of Islam.

The appointments threaten to fuel more widespread unrest. Mass demonstrations are planned for the end of the month and could turn violent. Egypt's new Tamarod, or rebel, movement has been calling for protests on June 30 — one year after Morsi's inauguration — in an effort to oust the president. Many criticize Morsi for failing to fix a severely fraught economy that has led to fuel shortages, increased costs of food and widespread power outages.

But support for Morsi elsewhere holds strong. In recent weeks Gemaa Islamiya's Building and Development Party has counter-campaigned in favor of the president and demands he remain in power through the end of his term. The Muslim Brotherhood and those who support the group are planning to hold a rally this Friday to renounce violence.
"The regional governors now have direct control over their territories."

Israeli flag burned as protests sweep Egypt

In anticipation of major anti-Morsi protests scheduled for Sunday, protests sweep Egypt leaving 36 wounded, 2 dead, one of which an American journalist. During protests, huge Israeli flag burned

Roi Kais
Published: 06.28.13, 23:00 / Israel News
The death toll in anti-government protests in Egypt rose Friday to five after one man was killed in a brawl that erupted between supporters of Egyptian President Mohamad Morsi in Mansura, in the Delta Nile.

In Alexandria, clashes between Egyptian security forces and anti-Morsi protesters left another person dead and at least 36 wounded as protesters pelted stones at the forces, who in turn fired tear gas.

The Egyptian daily Al Ahram reported that protesters in Alexandria successfully managed to take over the headquarters the Muslim Brotherhood, the ruling party.

And additional reports claimed that a US citizen was the one killed in the city.

The man apparently died from a stab wound to the chest, General Amin Ezzeddin, a senior Alexandria security official said. The account was confirmed by Ibrahim al-Roubi, head of the emergency unit in the Alexandria health department, and two other security officials.

Ezzeddin said that the young American was using a mobile phone camera near an office of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood when it was being attacked by protesters. He was rushed to a military hospital, where he died.

Meanwhile, some an additional 19 people were wounded in clashes between protesters supporting President Morsi and those calling for his resignation in Cairo, while protesters set the party's headquarters on fire after pelting the structure with stones on firebombs.

All over the country pro-Morsi supporters rallied, crying, "you won't be able to oust Morsi." They gather in front of the famous mosque in the Nasser neighborhood in Cairo waving flags, chanting the president's name and calling on opposition protesters to stay at home Sunday, the day marking a year to Morsi's rise to power and which is expected to see mass protests nationwide.

Nonetheless, Morsi's detractors decided not to wait until Sunday and in Tahrir square thousands rallied against the president, calling for his resignation and early elections. The protesters burned pictures of Morsi and those of the American embassy in Cairo while shouting: "Morsi, June 30 is your last day."

Protesters also gathered before the government's main building. Acording to Al Masri Al Yom paper, the protesters even went as far as burning an Israeli flag in response to what they call "Zionist and American involvement in Egyptian affairs."

Additional reports claimed a small number of protesters also gathered near before the presidential palace.

As news of the developments in Egypt spread, the US attempted to defuse tensions all. In "our opinion, all Egyptians have the right to express their opinions and concerns freely. We've urged the government to protect that right," acting deputy State Department spokesperson Patrick Ventrell said.

"We urge all parties to refrain from violence and express their views peacefully. And political leaders have the responsibility of taking steps to ensure that groups do not resort to violence."

His warning came as supporters and opponents of Egyptian Islamist President Mohamed Morsi took to the streets for rival protests a year after his election.

Fervent displays of emotion on both sides underline the bitter divisions sweeping Egypt, with Morsi's opponents accusing him of hijacking the February 2011 revolution and his supporters vowing to defend his legitimacy to the end.

One person was killed and at least 70 injured in second city Alexandria, state media reported.

Ventrell also stressed that Washington did not "support any individual or a particular party in Egypt. We are supportive of the success of all Egyptians."

But he reiterated a US call for the Egyptian government to complete reforms so that it can secure an IMF loan.

"We want the Egyptians to step forward to be able to move forward and have the kind of reforms that are going to put their economy back on track and their political system on track," he told reporters.

The first anniversary of Mohammed Morsi's rule is marked in Egypt by a petition calling for the ouster of the president, who was elected in the wake of the popular uprising that achieved the dethronement of autocratic ruler Hosni Mubarak, garnering some 18 million signatures. The petition is part of the Tamarod campaign, a new protest movement that has revived the spirits of Egypt's secular opposition.

The recent developments are taking place ahead of Sunday's demonstrations, part of the momentum of the Tamarod (Arabic for "rebel") movement. Tamarod activists can be seen on Cairo streets handing out leaflets calling the people to unite and rise again Morsi, whose military is certainly taking the developments seriously enough and are beefing up security of government intuitions and sensitive spots within the Egyptian capital.

The protests continued even while Morsi was in power, they fought and they abandoned Morsi over the constitution, but I guess you forgot that, it was in that Moment when it all started to fall apart. He lacked the broad support for a stable government, and those young protestors that continued to denounce the Brotherhood became a catalyst for what was seen today. You act like it all ended and they all went home, and if you sell that to yourself then you are a sorry fool.

You take confidence in thinking you knew was going to happen, when it fact you were completely wrong in the end. I kept quiet cause it wasn't over, you barked and could've been an Olog clone during the last year.

It didn't happen ANYWHERE NEAR how you expected this to play out. Today is the ultimate proof of that.

A hope is not a predication, hoping for something then bragging that you were right is like praying to hit the lotto and then bragging when you hit it.

I hope one day you can differentiate those in the future

You are supporting Terrorists with your actions, you lower yourself to the level of terrorism. You are the same scum as the brotherhood and al qaeda, in fact you belong in Afghanistan in the same rat holes as them. You are so fucked up you belong with them.
