I don't usually read the same threads he participates in. Though this claim out of the blue (substantiated somewhat by other parts of this subthread and his own citation) and his endless claiming of special deals between the US and Israel for dual citizens with no proof and then claiming he stopped reading the thread as his reason for not realizing how it really worked was pretty lame IMO.Time to drop this I think. |

I have every right to question you and where you heard that and I don't think is unreasonable if I do so. |

I am not a big fan of that style of architecture, it all reminds me of the Delta building at JFK, and sort of like the "1964 World's Fair" style of buildings. But I can see the beauty in it if you like that style of architecture, surely an interesting location. |

If I post a cartoon, I have to have it vetted? Can you give me a list of who I have to go to in order to have posts properly approved? Do I need a notary signature on it too? How many copies? And who gets the pink sheet?Perhaps this might help ... don't take ANYTHING I write seriously unless I specifically use the words "actually" or "fact." That might help to eliminate confusion. I don't come HERE to be serious. Way too many other demands on me for that - this place is strictly for entertainment purposes as far as I'm concerned. Does that help? :( |

I say that "like Brasilia" (something I caught while busy coming out of the talking lamp on a 60 Minutes piece about Brazil, it's politics and its semi-fatalistic public philosophy as far as people think of their government, KNOWING that similar buildings here in Smallbany are indeed expensive to maintain and literally tanking SUNY's budget and suddenly it turns into some doctorate research material where I'm getting peer-reviewed on an observation I never made.Don't they teach the word "anecdotal" in norming school anymore? It's amazing how anyone can take an offhand comment seriously as reference material, and HERE of all places. :-\ Some folks ... heh. I think I need to hire an attorney to clear my sentences for me before I think twice and post anyway. :) |

Well, they were all built at about the same time. I'm not always a huge fan of 60s architecture but I think that for the most part, the Eixo Monumental (where most of the government buildings and other major attractions) was well done. The shopping sector and hotel sectors look far worse IMO. These photos were taken from an observation deck on the TV Tower in the middle of the Eixo Monumental, so you can't see what these buildings look like from the street when you are next to them, but you might get an idea, especially in the second photo where you can see the small, lower quality hotels next to the much larger and more upscale ones. |

Brasilia on the Hudson I know about, the other place I've never been to but have heard plenty over the years from Brasilians as well as others who compare our morass to theirs. If you can find the 60 Minutes piece on Brazil (it was a couple of weeks ago) watch it and you can hear what little reference was made to it in the feature which was more about national politics down there and the people's attitude towards their capitol city.Sadly, there's a couple of idiots here who require that others practice biblical studies here or STFU and it is THAT which pissed me off. Since you had asked a question about who the architect was up here, spent a little time looking it up to answer the question amidst some insane levels of busy on my end since I have a new version of our operating system to get out the door at the end of the month, and it's a VERY firm deadline. I don't mind side trips that take a few minutes, but I sure didn't appreciate the shit from a couple of directions, especially here on OT where caveat empty isn't just good judgement, it's the law. :) No problem with you - it's the other kibbitzers ... it just isn't important when I've got real work to do ... otherwise I would have been sleeping. |
