Ron Paul Wins Presidential Straw Poll at CPAC |

Posted by dand124 on Sat Feb 20 18:31:06 2010 http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/02/20/ron-paul-wins-presidential-straw-poll-cpac/Ron Paul has ended Mitt Romney's three-year run as conservatives' favorite for president, taking 31 percent of the vote in the Conservative Political Action Conference's annual straw poll. Paul, a Republican congressman from Texas known for his libertarian views, ran for president in 2008 but was never a serious contender for the GOP nomination. Romney, former Massachusetts governor and also a 2008 GOP candidate, has won the last three presidential straw polls at the annual conference. This year, he came in second, with 22 percent. Sarah Palin, who didn't attend the conference, was a distant third in the straw poll, with 7 percent, followed by Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor, and Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana. The straw poll is not binding -- and not necessarily a good forecaster, given that in 2008, John McCain went on to take the party's nomination over Romney. Results of this year's poll were announced just as the crowd prepared for the conference's keynote speaker, Fox News host Glenn Beck. |

Whatever Beck gets right is poisoned by his Libertarian dabblings. Ron Paul is a big problem that doesn't deserve to be in government; a radical who masks his agenda by appealing to conservative values (where have we seen that before) . . . |

I think it’s entirely possible he didn’t read the newsletter and didn’t know what was in them. It was still a large error in judgment for him to hire the editor who allowed the racist material in the newsletter. If he were a racist I think he would have said something racist while he was running for president, people who covered him during the camping did not see a hint of racism in him. At any rate I don’t think Paul will be running in 2012, I hope Gary Johnson runs. |

I like Ron Paul a lot, and if he were to run for president vs Obama it would be a very hard choice to make, I like how he's very straightforward and I like that he wanted to bring the power to declare war back to congress and I liked that he was aggressive against the UN with the American Sovereignty Act... if the UN was actually an entity that nations respected, but he's against all types of intervention in foreign affairs and is big on keeping our money in our hands. He may have some pie in the sky ideals... but there are some I believe in. The GOP should rally around him they're what they need, an independent thinking who truly does care about the country and not the rest of the world. |

It really doesn't matter since the term has been let slide so much. It's an example of anti-semitic in origin words becoming commonplace that no one knows the meaning of such anymore. But since "marxist, community organizer, professor, president" and a dozen other words have been absurdly labeled as code words for "black", I think I'm going to go on a crazy anti-neocon crusade. Since every label being code for black for the president is somehow sane and rational thinking. |
