The engineers at the Port Authority are seriously considering a lift bridge option that would be ready in time for 2014/2015. Imagine a drawbridge suspended from the arch. Cost would be a lot less than a tunnel and require fewer environmental impact studies, etc. Funding will be the next challenge. |

(Would love to climb it with my Echo though; looks like about 12 percent.)If they're going to dredge Newark Bay, why not the Kill Van Kull? |
