More Levittown history: the homes were made small for two reasons: (1) The town was created with returning G.I.s in mind who on the whole did not have substantial savings and (2) to get more 'bang' for the 'buck'....more developments in a smaller area as opposed to fewer, larger houses on larger tracts of land. |
