There will be no happy endings with Iraq, if there is to be an end. The issue is not whether the next President will get the "War on Terror" back on track and finally return a favor to bin Laden and his cohorts, but whether the neocons that still influence Middle Eastern policy can be neutralized enough so that their next "bright idea" doesn't sink this country deeper into the quicksand that is that region (while at the same time leaving bin Laden and Co. free to roam about and plan what they will). |
