"The only people watching that are ones who can't sleep, or have the flu or something."

Or who have infants who need to be fed or changed or just plain want to cry. I saw a lot of infomercials when my oldest child (now 6) was a newborn.

BTW, not all of the channels show infomercials. TV Land usually has shows all night.

I have directTV and we have lots of shows on lots of channels all night long. It also probably helps that there's 3-hour time difference and not all channels have an east coast/west coast feed. During our late night some of the early morning east coast shows are coming on.

I have never watched more than 10 minutes of any informercial and even that much only once or twice. I guess that's why I haven't yet made a fortune in real estate! ;)

I seem to recall that WMAR had two test patterns: the Indian head variation, plus another design used around the 1960's/early '70's.

You know, it seems that a lot of TV stations used Indian heads in their test patterns. Why was that?

They all used copies of the same RCA pattern and it had the Indian chief on it. Why there is an Indian on it is one of the unsolved mysteries of our time.

There are two movie channels that play some modern test pattern during the overnight. It's even listed in the program guide. And it's in HD.
