Oh my God, I just read this thread, I missed it, as I have been extrmely busy at work the past week. All I have to say is I just can't believe this. Wow, it's really hard to swallow. I can't even imagine what his family has been going through. My heartfelt condolences. I first met Dante on a tour of the JMZ and L lines back in 2003, and saw him in passing on a few of the March of Dimes trips...but from this board and SubTalk before, I always enjoyed his witty posts, and this board has become sort of a family over the years. Sure, we all have our differences once in a while, but I think many friendships have formed here, and I have a great deal of respect for a lot of the people here, even if we all disagree once in a while.... When he still lived near the Chauncey or Wilson stations, I loved seeing his photos all the time of the J line... My sympathy to Dante's family. I still can't believe it. I am sorry I didn't see this sooner. Dante will be DEAPLY missed, and a void will always be felt on this board without him. |

I only met Dante once in person, at Trevor's Thanksgiving Party. However, as regulars of the AIM transitchat room, it was always a pleasure to talk with him, especially about BARTA and whatever SEPTA issue going on. Also, his pictures were always great. It was an honor having him as a member of Philadelphia Transit Vehicles as well.Since I've heard the news, I've been in a state of shock and disbelief, especially since i didn't know he was sick or getting surgery at the time. It was only a few days ago when he replied to a topic about LED signs on the route 100 (with a nice picture showing it), and posted these amazing pictures of NJT Metro Bs. It's hard for me to believe/comprehend that these conversations and picture showings have stopped for good. My heart goes out to his family, especially his mother, who was so kind to come onto the board and give us this very sad news. On another note, I agree with 1C/Ballston in the fact that it is great that we are such a close knit community that, despite some arguments and minor conflicts, truly cares and mournes together at the loss of a member, especially someone such as Dante. I, too, am honored to be a part of this community (which, in my opinion, also includes BTCo.net, PhiladelphiaTransitVehicles.cjb.net, the late bustalk.net, and straphangers.org). Rest in peace, Dante. You surely will be missed. |

This is just a random photo, but I can go through any bunch of photos I took on trips, and he would randomly appear just like this. And when looking out while riding a MOD train...you could always look out the window at any random station, and if he wasn't on the train itself...he was running past on the sidelines on the platform. |

Over the years, I can't even count how many photos I probably saved that he posted... I use Webshots for my computer wallpaper and screensaver, and the wallpaper cycles to a different photo every 15 minutes.... Most of the photos are mine, but there are a few photos from people I have saved over the years for my webshots when I like the photos....As a tribute, here's two of his photos I remember he took.... One at Chauncey Street station....and the other obviously at Hewes St. He will be remembered everytime they come up: |

SubTalk was only 2 years old by that time, so he is "almost" one of the original SubTalkers!Judging by the question being asked, it could be his first post, unless he posted under something other than DTrain originally, but I don't think so: http://talk.nycsubway.org/perl/read?subtalk=139339 |

I am sorry for the confusion, but I think THIS post was his first one, two years later in July 2002, under DTrain34:http://talk.nycsubway.org/perl/read?subtalk=358060 I "think" DTrain, the link I posted earlier may be a different person, but not sure. Unfortunately, the old SubTalk posts no longer show email addresses, so it's hard to tell. If you searh for poster "DTrain", which will give you DTrain34, DTrain, and DTrain22, maybe someone that knows better can tell once they pull up a chronological list. Then a year later as DTrain22...he must have had something else in between. I dunno. |
