Conduct unexplained? Bullshit. CBS was protecting Harris because she was a babbling moron. Clear media bias, and simply labeling it “unexplained” just gives the media cover. Can you imagine the outcry if it was Fox News that held a transcript of a Republican interview from the FCC? |

You are so gullible. They released the transcript. Harris gave a long answer to a question. In one excerpt they gave part of her answer. In a later excerpt they gave a different part of her answer. But both answers are in the original transcript. |

Harris gave a long answer to a question. If 60 minutes could significantly condense her answer and still capture the essence of what she was saying, which is what they are claiming, to me that implies that she was rambling. |

Sure, that's a plausible conclusion. Most politicians ramble on occasion. And it's standard journalistic practice to edit excessively long answers. That practice is done with Trump all the time too. |

"Harris gave a long answer to a question."Yes, that is her MO. The issue is not how long her answer was, its if anything useful or sensible was actually said. Harris has a well-deserved reputation for meaningless word salads and the American people are entitled to know exactly what she said without the transcript being given the "Reader's Digest Condensed Books" treatment. My objection stands. If the FCC requested a transcript of a Trump or Vance interview, and Fox News altered it in ANY way - condensing, rearranging or any other editorial trick - the outcry would be long and loud. |

That's an interesting question. I had never watched the 60 Minutes interview but I just watched the first 5 minutes of the original interview and the FCC unedited video and I am surprised by what I saw. I don't know what is allowed by the FCC, but they certainly edited her answers. They even edited the questions that were asked. Also, it was edited so slickly that you couldn't tell that it had been edited. And I do think that it may have potentially altered her message. For example her first answer was edited to include her statement about Oct 7 and also about innocent Palestinians being killed. Then the war needs to end. Her complete answer could be characterized as more supportive of Israel and also talked about proposed actions that were completely missing. I guess we all know that things are edited, but I had no idea that news goes so far as to pick certain sentences and parts of paragraphs in what is being framed as an "interview". Like they skipped over parts and then just dropped the second half of her answer completely. |

Journalists have often been accused, whether rightly or wrongly, of putting someone in a bad light by only quoting part of what they said. Here's a case of the opposite. |

Posted by Easy on Fri Feb 7 16:30:15 2025, in response to Re: CBS News under investigation for fakenews - conduct unexplained, posted by alm on Fri Feb 7 15:57:35 2025. I have heard the term sound bite. That's when they take a short clip to capture the main idea and sometimes they are used out of context. When they take a bunch of sound bites and link them together so that they appear to be a single reply, I feel that's something different. If the NYT published what they said was an interview and kept everything in quotes or italics - whatever they use - but took out complete sentences and paragraphs that may impact your perception of the conversation, but didn't say that it was edited wouldn't that be misleading? That's essentially what happened here. Her sentences were spliced together without pause or comment so that it appeared to be her complete reply. That's fine if you're interviewing Taylor Swift, but that may not be allowed for political interviews. I don't know, but I do feel like it was misleading. I do feel like there was some nuance lost, although they didn't change the essence of what she was saying. |

I'm looking at the Meet the Press interview of Donald Trump and it looks like they broadcasted the entire interview with no editing of responses. The same for 60 Minutes and JD Vance. It's looking like this is unusual. |

It's also looking like it's common practice for the networks to release the full interview transcript immediately after broadcast. CBS didn't do this and I'm sure that's what raised the questions. |
