There are HIPPA laws. Doctors would be in a shitload of trouble if they let those EOB's out the door, to the IRS of all places, probably lose their license to practice. |

A tax audit on a doctor and hospital has nothing to do with releasing individual health infor. They are interested in income, expenses, and deductions in aggregate. Personalized infor has to be protected or encrypted. We can't even send an email with someone participant's name on it. That's a HIPPA security breach.I worked on insurance claim IT apps, and now another health IT app. I know a thing or two about HIPPA and privacy. We all have to take courses in that. I also had to get Federal Security vetting and clearance to work on Dental claims for a Federal DOD application. That also means no flash drives on our laptops can work, and can't save infor on C drives. |
