Posted by AlM on Wed Jan 22 17:21:30 2025 From the Wall Street JournalOut of roughly 1,600 cases filed by the feds, more than a third included accusations of “assaulting, resisting, or impeding law enforcement.” The U.S. Attorney’s office said it declined “hundreds” of prosecutions against people whose only offense was entering restricted grounds near the Capitol. Of the 1,100 sentences handed down by this year, more than a third didn’t involve prison time. The rioters who did get jail often were charged with brutal violence, including: • Daniel Joseph “DJ” Rodriguez, sentenced to 151 months, who can be seen on video, federal prosecutors said, deploying an “electroshock weapon” against a policeman who was dragged out of the defensive line, by “plunging it into the officer’s neck.” The night before, he promised in a MAGA chat group: “There will be blood.” • William Lewis, given 37 months, “sprayed streams of Wasp and Hornet Killer spray at multiple police officers on four distinct occasions,” forcing several to flee the line and “seek treatment for their eyes.” • Isreal James Easterday, 30 months, blasted a cop “in the face with pepper spray at point-blank range,” after which the officer “collapsed and temporarily lost consciousness, which enabled another rioter to steal his baton.” • Thomas Andrew Casselman, 40 months, hit multiple officers “near their faces” with pepper spray. His later internet searches included, “The statute of limitations for assault on a police officer.” • Curtis Davis, 24 months, punched two police officers in the head. That night he filmed a video of his fist, in which he bragged: “Them knuckles right there, from one of those m— faces at the Capitol.” • Ronald Colton McAbee, 70 months, hit a cop while wearing “reinforced brass knuckle gloves,” and he held one down on the ground as “other rioters assailed the officer for over 20 seconds,” causing a concussion. • Michael Joseph Foy, 40 months, brought a hockey stick with a TRUMP 2020 flag attached, which he swung “over his head and downward at police officers as if he were chopping wood.” |

While I don't agree with Trump's decision in pardoning those who assaulted police, in the interest of fairness, The Wall Street Journal forgot to post the names of all associates and family members of ex President Biden to receive last minute pardons for various alleged criminal activities .In addition, you (sorry, I meant the WSJ) forgot to list the names of all those who died from fentanyl smuggled in from Mexico, thanks to Bidens open border policy. |

Where are the crimes?You can do all of this in Portland and Madison, why not DC? New York has a guy who has probably done over 100 assults and stabbings now and he's ok. |

The difference is that Biden was open about what he was doing.Trump and Vance explicitly said they would not do what they ended up doing. Best case, Trump probably delegated the task to someone else and signs things without reading what it says. Wrist case, Trump thinks we are all idiots who can be gaslighted. |

If Trump pardoned the thousand or so people only charged with trespassing, no one would be raising an eye brow.It's pardoning the people who caused serious injuries that is pretty extreme. Biden only issued pardons for non-violent offenses. And most of his pardons were for people who had already served far more time. |

The difference is that Biden was open about what he was doing.The bigger difference is that Biden only pardoned people for non-violent offenses. If Trump had only pardoned the 1000+ people who were only charged with some version of trespassing, this wouldn't be front-page news. Best case, Trump probably delegated the task to someone else and signs things without reading what it says. Wrist case, Trump thinks we are all idiots who can be gaslighted. The first is a possibility. The second is provably true. How many times has he claimed he never said or did something that everyone knows he did. To use a recent example, suddenly he loves TikTok. |

Biden said many times that he wouldn't pardon Hunter. Trump said many times that he would pardon the Jan 6 rioters.
