McGwire and Sosa's candidacies are not strong IMO. I'd vote for McGwire on account of him hitting 70 HR in a single season, but coming in second isn't enough for me to think Sosa should be in given the rest of his stats.

Of all of those, I only agree about Manny and Pujols.

Bonds - druggie
A-Rod - druggie
Sosa - druggie
McGwire - druggie
Palmeiro - drugge
Clemens - punk - and a druggie

Think about it. Back in the day, How many players used some form of amphetamines to get thru a game, especially the hard drinkers who came to a game with killer hangovers?
Point being, drug use in baseball is nothing new.

Career .273 BA
Career .344 OBP
Less than 3,000 hits
Not a great fielder in the second part of his career when he was mashing HRs, his defensive decline happened at the time of his offensive breakout so he was never good at both hitting and fielding simultaneously
A pretty average compilation of statistics outside of a 5 year stretch of an 18 season career
A 56.8 WAR, comparable to Darrell Evans, John Olerud, and Bobby Bonds (none of whom is a HOF member)
