Stonewall was mobbed-up

Homosexuality was illegal.

So the mafia opened several gay because they specialize in illegal activity.

The bar didn't make money selling alcohol. Instead they sold drugs and loan sharked. Supposedly there was child sex trafficking too.

Another scam was blackmailing. Men on the down low were identified then threatened with being outed if they didn't pay.
