Is it my former OSS stories that give it away?

Trump is not being charged with that. He’s being charged with keeping it after being told to give it back.

Though even if he wasn't charged, I don't believe the current president has the right to take classified documents to an unsecured location.

I also don't think any other former president has ever sent highly secret information to their home.

Not to mention that some of the information says this info shall not be removed from a certain type of ultra-secure facility. He wasn't even allowed to keep it in his White House office.

POTUSes before Trump took highly sensitive information home with them

Read the Presidential Records Act. That's a red herring.

What was wrong?

The Presidential Records Act states that all documents that a POTUS takes with him when he leaves office become his property, not US property. Jack Smith is citing an obsolete law.

you're absolutely right, it's astonishing what lengths democrats will go to out of fear that he'll run again.
