Indoctrination or Education

In One county in Tennessee, parents were asked to sign a waiver that they will not eavesdrop on student’s on line classes nor will any lessons be recorded. One can only imagine the kind of liberal indoctrination that is going on if teachers do not want parents to hear it. Perhaps parents need to be in classes to hear what their children are being indoctrinated with, as well.

The no recording sounds sketchy because I would find it useful to rewatch a lesson if there was a concept I was struggling with. No eavesdropping I can somewhat understand because they don't want parents feeding answers to students and the students not learning the concepts.

As a former teacher, I disagree. It seems perfectly reasonable that parents have the right to explain abstractions to their children in the context of their morals or their religious beliefs.

When school is not in session absolutely. They should not be doing it while the teacher is teaching. What if a math lesson is being taught and the parent is standing out of line of site of camera with a giant white board writing the answers to all of the teacher's questions for their precious child to answer correctly rather than learning how to do the problem himself/herself?

Then feel free to find a school that does teach that way, homeschool your child, or when school is not in session teach your child the values you want them to be taught. The one thing you can't do is disrupt the teacher that is teaching the class.

Why would a parent want to eavesdrop if only to undermine the teacher or help a student cheat? As I said earlier, the no recording I have a bigger issue with.

Evolution is long-established scientific fact. Anthropogenic global warming is somewhat less so. At any rate, if students are taught critical thinking, they can sort out for themselves what makes sense and what does not. That is what will keep kids’ curiosity about science alive, not protecting them from ever being exposed to "misinformation".

By now, global warming is long-established fact as well. Evolution was not as well established (in terms of how long it had been studied) by the time of the Scopes Trial, but it was still well established.

How do you define global warming. Actual global warming, or the way AOC describes it? One is a fact. The Other is not. The one that is not, if you follow their advice, will kill you quicker than the fact will.

I recall at a school assembly ( when such things were done) One Dow scientist demonstrated some nice chemistry showing light without electricity. Another from GM IIRC talked about running out of petroleum before 1990. I guess that was the concensus of the scientific community of the day. One day we'll look back on the myth of global warming like we look back on the myth of global cooling. Science theory follows the money.

I listen very carefully when my youngest grand daughter speaks about her world views compared to her 3 older sisters. Right down to the "words" and phrases she uses, it sounds like indoctrination is underway.

The same phenomenon can have multiple causes. As an example (and one that I keep bringing up because conservatives don't read) is that a forest fire can be caused by a gender reveal party, or by a lightning strike. Does the fact that the California fires were caused by a man-made event mean that there were no forest fires before there were humans?

Science shows that greenhouse gases trap solar radiation that is ordinarily lost, that concentration of such gases has increased, that such increase is due to human activity, and that the average temperature of the Earth has risen in that same period.

But an excellent example of the indoctrination that is going on in schools across the country. Teachers count on parents not having time or motivation to see what their children are being taught. We only become aware of a very small percentages of this abuse.

Just to be the devil's advocate here (even though I don't believe in the devil) if evolution is a proven fact, why did it stop with man? Shouldn't there be other species by now after millions of years that can talk and create whole societies and cities with scientific knowhow?
