That's emergency health care only. You can't manage diabetes, heart disease, etc., with emergency care. Once you are no longer in danger of death, you end up out on the street. It sucks but people do go to county hospitals for lots of urgent care type stuff. If you walked into county USC or county UCLA right now I’d bet that the wait is over 12 hours and that nearly everyone ahead of you is here illegally.Plus I think that anyone can go to a county clinic here in LA. Supposedly you may have to pay some portion but if you don’t have a social security number you enter 000000000. |
