When will airlines do away with the fuel surcharges and checked bag fees imposed when the price of Jet-A was much higher?

When they feel that competition forces them to. Surcharges are just another name for price increases. They may or may not have a direct correlation to cost increases.

Is it bad that McD raises its price by 3-4% so that its workers get a wage increase of 10%?

I'm not convinced. The general public has a vested interest in minimizing the homeless population. It may be cheaper to do it through paying McD more than through paying the government to build homeless shelters.

Are you trying to say that the difference between being homeless or not is a raise in prices at McDonalds? I hope not because it ignores the fact that hat much of the homeless population, at least in NYC, is due to some form of mental illness. Many homeless are incapable of holding a job, even at McDonalds

3 to 4% is worth it to give the help a raise. Unless you're a real tightwad of course. Then you'll get your panties in a twist over 80¢ on a $20 order.

I agree that many (probably most) homeless are mentally ill and can't hold a job at McD.

However, that doesn't mean that people can afford a place to live if they are paid $7.25 per hour.

About 10-15 times per year, I spend about $3.50 at McD. When I do it, it is very convenient and not that bad. I get regular hamburgers, not loaded stuff.

Then we keep getting back to the fact that it was never intended that a minimum wage job would provide the means to support a family of four. People who don't aspire to do better than making fries should not consider raising a family.

Why is late night limited? I know many places to get stuff late night. And it will never be McDondalds.
And it's all their burgers that are gross.
I will give them three things though. You can get the same exact mediocre, gross burger at ANY location. They have excellent consitency between stores, and good quality control (let's forget the gross product they are quality controlling).
They are always clean, and their employees are well trained and friendly.

I cant say the same about other fast food places, although the product tastes worlds better at other chains.

McDonalds, and the public, already pay taxes to subsidize those low wages.

Maybe if you didn't have shitty policies that increased the cost of living to make people homeless, McDonalds could pay 19/hour without raising the prices.

I like how the laws in New York City mandated a higher wage to employees at the Taco Bell, than people working in offices or washroom attendants.

Talk about your "arbitrary and capricious". I wonder why people didn't sue.

I tried the grand mac, it's a straight up change in scale with no other difference, and was quite bleh.

Reasons why McD's isn't going away:
-The Quarter Pounders are good with leaf lettuce and tomato.
-The fries are addictive.
-Self-serve free refills at most of them.
-Kids like the nuggets for some ungodly reason (I get nauseous after 4).
-The sandwich they call fish with the sauce they call tartar tastes great (though nothing at all like fish or tartar sauce).

Yup they've done specials regarding their fish meal during Lent as long as I can remember. I drove past a few Arby's advertising similar.

And Subway, except for a few brief periods, always discounts some form of tuna sandwich on Fridays. A decade ago it was the 6" meal, now it's the footlong by itself.

Actually it was a stroke of (misguided) brilliance to do that. They had the authority to raise the wage in one area, so they picked food service. It's ubiquitous enough that anyone who's job sucked and paid less would instantly quit, driving the need for higher wages in those professions as well.
