Windy

So there we were coming down final to 29 on the Bridge Visual late this afternoon. Said Bridge Visual is an approach me and the other guy, hereafter referred to as OG for purposes of this thread, have never flown not ever but there we were. So as we come over the New Jersey Turnpike there were a couple planes waiting to cross 4L after landing on 4R. So those guys are watching us fighting the gusty crosswinds and one of those guys comes over Tower frequency with "Come on, baby" as a sort of supportive and encouraging comment. Flying makes absolutely no sense none. The whole thing is just crazy.

4R is longer so why were they making you do 29?

We were flying with split scimitars and the gusty winds on 4R were approaching our maximum crosswind limits which are slightly reduced as compared to blended winglet equipment so the OG, who is married to a girl from Mississippi and was flying this leg, wanted 29 to better align with the quote environmental conditions unquote. I saw a classic, old fashioned Shop-Rite delivery truck on the NJ Turnpike pass underneath us... it is strange the things you remember.

That makes sense. I forgot that the new split scimitar have a slightly lower crosswind limit and since the majority of Untied's 73's are of the old style I probably just assumed you were flying one

Where's the harpsichord player? The recording credits say that it was played by Larry Knechtel.
