Thank You, Obama |
|
Posted by Nilet on Thu Sep 18 22:41:21 2014 I just got a letter from my insurance company that says my decongestant was denied on the grounds that it isn't "medically necessary." As determined by an accountant who has no medical credentials, but doesn't want to pay for something that isn't literally life or death. And because Obama worked so diligently to prevent health care reform from being passed when the Democrats were elected in 2008 with a mandate to do precisely that, it means I must remain congested beyond the ability of any over the counter drugs to alleviate until my sinuses spontaneously renovate themselves or we elect enough Warren Democrats to actually pass health care reform. Persons who have claimed Obama is a liberal may now line up on the extreme right to offer retractions and apologies. Not that they will. Dunning-Kruger and all that. |

Welcome to the "Heritage Foundation" compromise which was the starting point of compromising further on letting the likes of United Hellcare and the rest from scuttling a decent possibility and turning it into a FURTHER compromise that made even Romneycare look good. :(I'd talk to your physician and see if they can write a letter of need for you on that case. MIGHT help, might not. Insurance companies will bend if the doctor is willing to take enough shit from them for writing it in the first place. |

Every healthcare system would be about profit, since in the case of single payer, the government would cut the budget of the single payer agency, forcing them to try to cut corners in a way that's not medically useful. It would still be better though. At least I can vote for someone to represent me on the federal government's board of directors (Congress). |

THIS "government" would harmfully cut a national healthcare budget. Not every government would. I doubt the Congress in 2009-2010 would have. |

That's only fair if one considers what the price for the same drug is elsewhere, like Canada, which is a near economic competitor in GDP per capita. Why should he be financially punished because the current government will not perform necessary work in regulating the prescription drug market? I doubt he voted for any of the morons now in office. I doubt he ever asked for hayfever. |

In every other (so it seems) developed nation on earth the price of prescription drugs is far more reasonable than it is here. Most of these drug companies are also based outside of the US (and likely receive any and all research subsidies commensurate with) to begin with, so it's not an issue beyond sheer profiteering in an unregulated market. It is therefore not fair to expect anyone to pay the inflated US price for a drug that was neither likely to have been developed nor likely manufactured here. Do bear in mind that we do not (nor have any right to know) the exact drug in question here. |

Your health plan is much better than it was before Obamacare. Unfortunately, it is still run by an insurance company. This is because this was the only way health care reform could get through Congress. Single player is the way to go, but Obamacare is much better than the previous system. |
