Many white people joined blacks in the civil rights movement and some even gave their lives. Yes, there were stumbles but black leadership after Dr. King's murder did not pick up his mantle. Instead, we got the Black Panthers and Jesse Jackson in the '70s and Sharpton starting in the '80s and Alice Walker, Martin Luther King III and the chief black bigot, Louis Farrakhan. |
