Ah, someone who doesn't know Reagan's history. You do know he was a Democrat in the beginning, yes? Remember his famous line, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party; the Party left me"?

i what way did the democratic party leave him? the things he supported in that address are very different than the things he said as president.

Reagan was a liberal Democrat before becoming a Republican. The best conservatives are always ex-liberals.

Reagan was a liberal Democrat before becoming a Republican.

Which is not what Reagan and Olog claimed. They said the party left him; he didn't leave the party.

Not always. The Kristols certainly reverted to liberalism quickly. The Bushes never left liberalism.
