Here's my hypothesis on what might REALLY have been the issue that set the whole Bridgegate scandal rolling. More than a few NJ insiders I spoke to while working on this item, found my theory plausible, given how allergic Christie was to the very thought of marriage equality... |

Why should your basic human rights be determined by what a majority of voters (which in itself is usually a small subset of the voting age population) decide? Could a state put up a referendum saying that Jews are forbidden to marry non-Jews and it be enforceable if a majority of the voters voted in favor of it? |

Trust me on this, Christie is a RABID homophobe. He was INCENSED when the legislature dared to send him the bill legalizing gay marriage. He has been, even before getting elected Governor, an outspoken opponent of LGBT rights. Christie, as I noted in my article, was all set to amend the state constitution to define marriage in New Jersey as "solely between a man and a woman".He was definitely trying to pack the courts with judges who would keep marriage off the table--that's a known fact. Whether that played a major role in Bridgegate, is something I want to get people thinking about. |

Several NJ lawmakers actually agree with you. It's still a Fort Lee thing, but as many Democratic mayors didn't endorse Christie, it seems strange that Sokolich would be singled out among them for retribution. The judiciary fights between Christie and the Senate seem to have more meat to them than a non-endorsement from a small town mayor. Gay marriage is a highly radioactive issue for His Corpulence, and always has been. |

Avoid the cheapass plastic ones, the amount of heat generated with extruding warps them, and the pressures involved using real semolina break them. You're forced to use flour just to keep the pressure down and you end up with Ronzoni after all that work. The really good all steel ones will set you back more than you'll ever save by making your own, but the difference in quality is SO worth it. |
