The teacher is the Hosanna case had become a minister though she was originally hired by that Lutheran school as a lay teacher. She claimed that since she was teaching, she should have been treated under the civil rules of a lay teacher since she didn't have ministerial duties and since she'd been hired as such. However since she was in fact a minister anyway, the SCOTUS didn't agree with her. Had she been a real non-ordained lay teacher, the school would have lost. Only Justice Thomas would agreed with the school under such a scenario. |

Thanks for attacking.I took a leave of absence. The Vatican should have intervened in the Ann Coulter situation at Fordham. I was mad today because the readings being read in the pulpit didn't match those in the hymnal. I brought it to the attention Father George after mass and don't think they'll address it tomorrow, when most people go to mass. Some nosy lady said, the readings were on another page. So I was not happy today. |

Both of my self-employed grown kids enrolled for good policies at a decent price. Seems to be working fine for them. It IS just a first step. If you had a cooperative rational Congress, all the missteps, unfairnesses and growing pains could've been fixed via a "technical corrections act." But it was not to be. Nonetheless, it will grow and help millions of people. |

White House Touts More Than 2 Million Obamacare Sign-UpsMillions more insured through Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program By Zeke J Miller - Time Despite a troubled early rollout, 2.1 million Americans have signed up for private health insurance through the state and federal exchanges at the heart of the health care reform law, the White House said Tuesday. Another 3.9 million Americans gained coverage from expansions of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, while 3 million more Americans under the age of 26 have maintained coverage under their parents’ health insurance, the administration said in a celebratory end-of-year conference call with reporters. But the Department of Health and Human Services did not provide details on what percentage of those who signed up for coverage have actually paid their first premiums to make that coverage final. Officials also wouldn’t reveal the demographic breakdown of those who enrolled, a key component in the long-term viability of the law, which depends on younger, healthier Americans. The figures also include some Americans who previously had health care coverage. The open enrollment period runs through the end of March. |

Well that's the thing though - with medicaid, you can actually see a doctor BEFORE you need to hit the emergency room. And even on the low end, you get to replace the ER with urgent care clinics and medical practices at former hospitals and do it all outpatient. That will make a very serious difference in reducing costs right there. |
