So, you believe that any white man has the right to shoot any black person without precondition, but a black woman doesn't have the right to fire warning shots to frighten a dangerous intruder with a known history of violence who has broken into her house with her children inside. That's called "racism," and it's why you're incapable of serious debate. |

At the time of his death, Martin had been suspended for excessive tardiness and wasn't even old enough to apply for college. People are to the point they are making crap up to pollute public oppinion on this case. It seems to be a running theme. Just like the Bell case. Guy tries to run over NYPD officers, and try fire back in self defense. Everyone then starts making a drug pusher sound like a chior boy... It's behavior such as that that encourages racism. |

The two cases are far from relatedhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/19/marissa-alexander-gets-20_n_1530035.html 1. Ms Alexander entered her ex husband's house. She did not think he was home (Why did she go there without permission?) 2. Turned out he was home and started arguing with her (normal reaction to someone entering your home without permission) 3. She LEFT the house - got a gun from her car then returned to the house to fire the shot. This is the reason "stand your ground" did not apply. She was an aggressor and home invader But this is the internet and people have entrenched positions - facts are irrelevant here |

I read the testimony as it became public. You couldn't even find a hyperlink. You couldn't find anything relevant on Google. Neither is terribly hard. IMO, the RWers are the ones making shit up. They're obviously not reading the transcripts.Doesn't make Mr martin and the *other* "stand your ground " victims less dead. Yes, the hjuror that spoke to the press stated that stupid law was their primary consideration. So don't go saying it was not a "stand your ground" case. Every bit of it WAS, according to the jury. |

What part of that don't you RWers GET?Jury instructions include pertinent law as decided upon by the judge, prosecution and defense. There is no "standard" jury instruction. They vary from case to case so the jurors understand by which law they are to hold the facts of the case to. Floriduh's reckless "stand your ground" law WAS INCLUDED in the instructions. |

Most states have basic model jury instructions that cover 99.9% of cases. Every so often you get a unique case that requires a custom jury charge that you have to help the Court divine out of applicable case law, but when charges have been upheld by Appellate courts they are generally safe to use in future cases and are constantly added to the model jury instructions |

This jury was given "stand your ground" within the instructions and used it as the basis of their determination. That fact was stated by the juror that went to the press in their interview. Then we have the RWers saying this is not a "stand your ground" case. |
