I'm gonna go out on a limb here and figure that you're white. If you weren't, you would probably know that any encounter with cops while black is risky and often unproductive, especially in Florida.

As for Martin's actions, we know well enough what he did. He was walking home from the store. A madman with a gun started following him. He tried to escape. The madman continued to pursue him and ultimately overtook him and accosted him. Martin tried to defend himself, and the madman used that as a pretext to shoot him.

So what should Martin have done? He couldn't escape. Even if he did call the cops, they wouldn't have gotten there in time. So exactly what was Martin supposed to do?

I would explain to you that there's nothing racist about suggesting a white man might enjoy visiting an all-American fast food joint, but you apparently believe that any white man has the right to shoot any black person without precondition so you're probably one of those "I'm not a racist, but..." types who think that "real" racism is forcing white people to accept the existence of nonwhite people.

I know plenty about guns. Knowing about guns is among the reasons I don't own one. I see no need for one.

Drawing a weapon is usually enough to stop people in their tracks. Zimmerman, a self-described police wannabe, should have known this. The idea is not to discharge the weapon, just make the subject believe you will.

There are links all over the article, idiot. Liberals use fact to prove their assertions. So in a Kos article, there's always links to facts supporting the assertions. You don't see that at mediaite, Freeper, Brightbart or any of the popular RW sights too often cited.

The links go to specific place sin the report so you save time and get the pertinent facts quickly.

It still wouldn't stop one guy with a gun from declaring himself Neighborhood Watchman and making 46 calls to 911 to report "suspicious black men" before deciding that since "these assholes always get away," he would take matters into his own hands and shoot one.

His self-appointment is really neither here nor there; he wasn't a member of any organisation or group, so he could have appointed himself Grand Poobah of Eating Crisps for all that it mattered.

OK then, have it your way. Zimmerman walked into a tree, then shot Martin from behind.

We know that Zimmerman (a) initiated contact, (b) escalated the situation, (c) ignored the 911 operator's instruction not to pursue Martin, and (d) shot the unarmed Martin while incurring only minor injuries to himself while (e) Martin was unarmed and attempting to avoid him.

What is not in dispute are the following two facts:

1. Zimmerman was the aggressor.
2. Martin made every reasonable effort to escape.

So what should Martin have done?

b) speculation
c) "we don't need you to do that". Not an order, but it was ignored.
d) true
e) speculation

1) This is very much in dispute. Have you followed this case?!? Zimmerman's defense was that he lost track of Trayvon and was headed back to his car when Trayvon confronted him!
2) Like what? We know that he refused to run based on testimony from the prosecution witness that was on the cell phone with him.

The only way that there would be no DNA was if one of the two was wearing gloves, which neither were. Zimmerman at the time had a shaved head, so it would have been near impossible to pound his head 25 times (as claimed by Zimmerman) into concrete without getting DNA under one's fingernails. There wasn't enough hair to grab onto.

As to who pinned who, it was clear that changed during the altercation, and is further clarified in the article.

no evidence of this

(b) escalated the situation

no evidence of this

(c) ignored the 911 operator's instruction not to pursue Martin

no evidence of this

and (d) shot the unarmed Martin while incurring only minor injuries to himself while

this is true but is isn't relevant the whether Zimmerman was justified in his use of force or not

(e) Martin was unarmed and attempting to avoid him

he ran from him earlier but there's no evidence that he didn't start the fight

1. Zimmerman was the aggressor.

no evidence of this

2. Martin made every reasonable effort to escape.

no evidence of this

1) Not established proven fact. That was Zimmerman's claim but there is NOTHING to support it. For all we know Mr Martin could have walked by the truck and Zimmerman accosted him. There were no witnesses at that point.

2) He was running at the time. He also didn't want Zimmerman to find out where he lived. Let's dismiss the rapist idea and think a little more logically about this......Surely he heard about the burglaries in the neighborhood, and probably thought his Dad's fiancee's home would be the next target, and that Zimmerman was the burglar. After all he wasn't living there full time so he wouldn't know that Zimmerman lived there too. The guy was just some stranger following him.

Do you KNOW how google really works? That suggestion tilts the mechanism. It's not "ask jeeves" ... it responds VERY poorly to anything asked in the form of a question and it takes each word separately without reference to any other words in a query unless those words are wrapped in ""'s and to make it even MORE useless, you have to specifically specify words you do NOT want to appear in the results with a - in front of each word or group of words enclosed in quotes.

Google is absolutely useless unless you think like a droid.
