I know your story, you've posted it before and I'm not going to pretend for a moment that I can relate to your experiences. But the bad neighborhoods of other countries aren't necessarily like the bad neighborhoods of the US. I don't know where you've traveled, but the worst neighborhoods in Israel are far safer than the places you've described in your own post. As for ClearAspect's accusation that I can't relate to the Egyptians' plight, it isn't like I've never walked through Islamic Cairo or dealt with the self appointed tour guides, bathroom attendants, and other "salespeople" at every tourist site in Cairo and Luxor that I visited, who set up shop at the entrance to the public, FREE bathroom and collect money for entry and distribute TP. Based on the content of his posts over the years, it sounds like he never leaves New York City and knows nothing about what life in places such as DC and Jerusalem is actually like. There are a lot of supposed know-it-alls on this message board, but the truth of the matter is many people pontificate about topics they know little or nothing about and don't back down when they don't have a clue. I don't mind calling those people out when I DO have a clue. (I'm also going to admit when I don't have a clue, see the first paragraph of this post.) Make sense? |
