Europe wants Israel to eventually become an EU member. I highly doubt that will ever happen. Israel isn't the only Mediterranean country to express an interest in joining the EU, but that doesn't mean we should ever expect it to happen. Israel's trade ties are with Europe, not the US. This is probably a correct statement. Lufthansa has the largest share of flights at Ben Gurion Airport after El Al, and they are flying A340s into Tel Aviv twice a day every day. Lots of people going between Tel Aviv and Europe. |
