And except for gambling.

yes.

Probably also divorce. Probably also birth control.

The article mentions neither.
"Probably" means nothing.

And certainly the various doctrinal differences between Protestant and Catholic theology like transubstantiation.

The article doesn't mention theological questions.
Only a moral code of how to live one's life.

Also, the Catholic Church strongly disapproves of pornography,

as does every religion.

but I've never heard of them opposing the legality of at least soft core porn.

The Catholic Church knows how to pick its public battles.
Publicly coming out strongly against soft-core would make them a laughingstock.

Nowhere in the article does it say that the SA is lobbying to make drinking, gambling or porn illegal anymore than the RCC is.

The only place where the Catholic Church pushes to make the law agree with its position is on abortion

Because they consider abortion, stem cell research and the death penalty matters of life and death and so do a huge number of people here and abroad, meaning that heavy political pressure on those issues makes a difference.

(e.g., they don't oppose the sale of condoms).

Yes they do. The just know that their is nothing they can do about it.

In addition to all this, the SA's position of economic issues are straight out of long-standing and reafffirmed papal encyclicals.
