He's come around before with bs statistics(as we know never change by a mayors slight of hand) trying to claim his cesspool is safer than the rest of the country. This serves to do a few things that are not good for actual human beings. You quantify and make crime faceless, thereby making it a normal part of life, which is not and should not be. When people rob a big mall during Christmas with machine guns, and the public can't wait to go back in and get impatient, and say "these things happen", crime is now the new normal, and it gets worse until you get the youtube ghetto videos. *this incident happened outside of Florida too. the Second issue. The nation sees these videos and sees the subways on vacation. This is the major issue that stops all rail construction in the USA. People nationally think they are building a NY Subway, and to be short, they don't want it or anything like it. Now I got an uphill battle if I was for a new line built. And forget Florida. Some of us are in Florida because we come from actual murder capitals that allowed themselves to be such. Besides, it's much easier to dig up Florida crime stories, the cops don't hide it and their mugshots are all posted online with names and addresses right down to dui's. They can't even print race descriptions in the north to catch criminals. On the fun side, that crime spree is the reason why there's no more Enterprise rental car stickers anymore. but I-95? Like that conduit isn't known for being scummy by every police agency from end to end. No one ever uses that as an example to stop road constuction like my rail line story. Basically, it's all connected and goes far. |
