No problem.

Truth is that these posts of mine may appear cruel and seem irresponsible but doing the same insanity over and over is what is actually cruel and irresponsible.

Every 75 years or so, America crumbles and then has a rebirth that makes the ensuing decades better (until we become compliant again that is).

1787-89: The nation was built with our Constiution and Bill of Rights to replace the failed setup under the Articles of Confederation.

Things were good for a while, people around the world were inspired, then it all went to hell because of slavery and 19th century teabaggery.

1861-1870: Civil War and Reconstruction Amendments to the Constitution

Again that trauma made the nation better and the country moved foward and embraced the Industrial Revolution in stride.
Then everyone got greedy, compliant and stupid.

1929-1945: Great Depression and WW2

Again, one of our worst times that however eventually led to something better later thanks to those traumas themselves.

Then we forgot again...as usual.

So here were are now.
Would a default and downgrading suck big time?
Absolutely. But it's the only way we can make things better for future generations. By starting over and prioritizing.
The party is over.
Our generation is shot but the shock of what's about to happen is what is needed to bring some common sense and lucidity to the whole thing.

As you all can see, I'm not happy that we got to this point but doing something about it now is the only way to stop the folly. The only way the parties will do anything meaningful is if the unspeakable happens.

As with Washington, Lincoln and FDR before him, Barack Obama is uniquely suited to get us through the harsh realities that await us whether one likes him or not.
