There is no seperation of Church and state anywhere in the constitution and especially not in the "Bill of Rights".


"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Sounds like separation of church and state to me. The Church of England was the "established" church in England, and they didn't want that kind of close connection here. I agree however that it doesn't necessarily mean you can't have a Christmas tree in front of city hall.
