First of all, "hoops and hip-hip crowd" is not a quote from a resident. No one is on record as saying that.

You're right. I looked it up. Couldn't find any other reference.

And even if someone is, it's the music genre not skin color they are concerned with.

I'm not so sure about that...

Secondly, such projects always meet opposition. Look at the Islanders. They want to build a new arena with an apartment building complex, entertainment center, and other features. But wait, hockey is for white people! How can there be opposition? Makes no sense, unless you live in the real world like I do.

No doubt. No one wants anything big, busy and boisterous in a residential neighborhood. I can understand that.

Third point: Hip-hop in NYC means more than black. Seems like many people dress hip-hop a call each other "Nigga".

Most of them are black though... And most of the rest are brown....
