Well ... if the intarwebs ever go down and I'm pissed at our leaders, I still know how to build FM transmitters that can get out a good distance.One of the beauties of IP is that it can travel over just about anything (though not quite the carrier pigeon mentioned in one famous RFC). We may rely on the Level 3s of the country for Technicolor web sites, but I think there’s sufficient distributed bandwidth that will defeat any coordinated attempt at a kill switch. And this doesn’t count any of the 100s of multinational countries with their own intranets and gateways to the world. Do you think Goldman is going to shut down its money network just because Uncle Sam gets scared? |
