I missed it, but it sounds like England were put in their place. They so overrate their team and players.I so agree. When they are not playing with their clubs along international superstars they are so ordinary. Unfortunately many American fans believe the hype too because of the EPL, forgetting that top EPL teams feature very few English players. The state of American baseball is similiar. They are not even close to being a perennially elite team (Germany, Italy, Argentina, Spain, France, Brazil). Once again I agree. Based on their results throughout history (this WC not included), I separate European national teams in a top tier consisting of Italy, Germany and France and a second tier of Spain, Netherlands, Portugal and England. A third tier would have various rotating teams that sometimes have good results. England has only reached the WC semis twice in their history. They have never done shit at the Euros or the Under-20 and Under-17 World Cups. Their women's team is complete garbage. |
