I remember going to games at Metropolitan Oval. Most of the adults spoke Italian or German, or Yugoslavian(in later years). Whenever I was on an M train leaving Fresh Pond going to Met in the summer, I always observed that soccer had taken over the park. Actually, that's not Metropolitan Oval, that's Farmer's Oval, if I am not mistaken. Isn't Metropolitan Oval the soccer field in Mapeth, next to the NY Connecting RR tracks, just north west of where Forest Ave and Metro Ave meet?
