The other problem is that the science which these initiatives are based on is often later proved wrong. How long did it take the government to realize that the "food pyramid" was actually an unhealthy diet? For years milk consumption and exposure to sunlight by children was attacked as unhealthy, and what did that lead to? A resurgence of ricketts. Cholesterol was attacked for decades before scientists realized there were good kinds the body actually needed. |
