You can be a railbuff and still have other interests, likes and dislikes.

Even buses :).

I'm a car guy, too (had as many as four at once), but mainly for pleasure, not commuting. I lived without one for most of my four years in Manhattan, two or three months in Queens, and six months in Chicago, and even when I've had a car I can go weeks at a time without driving.
