By the way, what kind of ridiculous demographic percentages is that? Hispanic, and non hispanic? What the heck is that? Why are demographics broken into hispanic and non hispanic? Where is black and white? They are all "non-hispanics"?There are two charts on the linked site, one of which shows the Hispanic/Non-Hispanic percentages. Below that one there is a pie chart which shows the racial breakdown with numbers. Without the Hispanic/Non-Hispanic percentages chart it would not be possible to tell how many Hispanics live in Brentwood because the federal government does not consider Hispanics a race. It's a safe bet that almost all of the 12,925 people who chose "other" as their race on the pie chart are Hispanic,* but that wouldn't come close to accounting for all of Brentwood's Hispanics. Many of them choose white or black for their race. * = nationally, about 95% of people who chose "other" as their race are Hispanic, most of the remainder are Middle Eastern or North African My LIRR/NYCT blog |
