I guess there's too many people who weren't around in the 70's to see the results of it. It failed miserably. But one thing that would definitely work as a better alternative is to remove the speculators who don't own warehouses. This creates a new level of competition as they try to sell what they've bought, with the further incentive not to be so greedy as to have to sit on what they bought as those who need the commodities purchase what they need from someone who has the most favorable price at the time the supplies are needed. Make delivery mandatory to the purchasers, and it's a self-curing problem. |
