Put a few hundred tons of weight on a floor not designed for it and you'll see similar action. With each additional floor that collapses, add its weight, plus the weight of what landed on it, plus the acceleration rate to find out the impact on the next floor below. Repeat.

This will occur with ANY structure. The WTC had the added benefit of the primary support columns being damaged, and the floor stringers being compromised by heat over time.
