Both my brother and I are extremely scarred ourselves by being raised by her. She’s long gone now but a lot of resentment remains. I try to find some comfort in telling myself she meant well and never intended to be uncaring and selfish, that she had nobody to raise her after Hitler orphaned her. But the unresolved anger and resentment remains. All I can do now is recognize what she did wrong and try to ensure I don’t pass the poison on to my own children.In the days leading up to Hitler’s suicide, he reportedly said that while he regretted not having been able to completely eradicate the Jewish people, he took solace in the fact that he had damaged them severely, for generations to come. |
