I use whatever the hell term I want to in describing black people as long as it is respectful and not condescending. My closest friend, Terry, prefers black and I prefer African-American and we get along just fine. And what does this have to do with the subject at hand. I am a rabid Republican but the fact that I am also a strong civil rights advocate seems to befuddle you. Keep in mind that my party was the party of Lincoln, the party of National Unity, the party of union, the party of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, the party of the hunters and imprisonment of the KKK, etc, etc, etc. The fact that we lost the support of these folks still rankles me as a historian and I wish with all my might that before I am called home we keep making inroads with Black Americans because deep within my soul I know they have been taken for a near one way ride by the Democrats. It is high time we let them into our car and take them for the ride that gets them in the run for the American Dream in full force. Over and out!!!!!! |
