That was a real weird missive our friend composed. I remember that day very well. I was in my final undergraduate semester in college out here is Southern California and had just finished my 9:00 History of Mexico Class and headed to the library to study until noon. It was a beautiful sunny fall day and at 11:30 I said enough and decided to head for the school's newspaper office when I saw dozens of people listening to their transistors. I asked and got the news. It crushed me and for the rest of the day you would have thought the school was full of zombies. JFK was admired and respected by young people and the loss was palpable.I don't think the country recovered from that tragedy for years. |
