Did you see them in the daytime or after dark? Racoons are nocturnal animals. If you see them in the daytime keep your distance. They might be sick or worse be rabid. I remember living in Beacon my neighbor saw a few racoons in their backyard in broad daylight. She called the cops. Beacon cops came with weapons drawn in the event of an attack. A rabid animal just might do that.No gunfire happened and the racoons got clean away. As a one time city boy, thats when I learned about staying clear away if you see a racoon in the daytime, especially in an urban setting. |
