Yep.The Wikipedia article on Oswald says that the route was announced several days in advance, but Oswald only went back to his home in Irving (he stayed in a rooming house in Dallas during the week) on the morning of the 22nd and came back to Dallas with some "curtain rods." So it sounds like last minute execution of a plan that couldn't have been put in place much earlier. Looking at the whole thing statistically, there might have been hundreds of malcontents in the US who wanted to kill Kennedy and actually had the means to do it (a gun and training in using it), but no obvious opportunity. So for one of those hundreds to get incredibly lucky and have Kennedy announced in advance as passing by his place of work is not an unbelievable coincidence. But there would have been far fewer active plots ("Here's some money, look for an opportunity) going on. And for one of those to have been presented with the opportunity that JFK was going to travel past the work location of a conspirator is a way greater coincidence. |
