The call has nothing to do with the batter. The way I see it is that Berra had the ball in his glove, Robinson slid into his glove while the glove was between his foot and the plate, thus he was out since Robinson never touched the plate. The ball in his glove represents a legitimate tag. But the ump's word is what counts. |
