True (re; hurricanes), though the last one of note to hit my area was Irma in 2017.

Pythons generally stay in the Everglades. Alligators usually do, but occasionally, one will make it's way into the populated area. If it is 6 feet or less, it is escorted back to the Everglades. Greater than 6 feet, and it has a good chance of becoming belts/wallets/shoes/purses, etc. (Alligators are not endangered, Crocodiles OTOH are (yes there are crocodiles in South Florida, it is the only area in the world to have both). The croc could be 600 feet and it will just get a free trip back to the swamp).
